Question: I took a hiatus from CrossFit, and now I’m ready to get back into it. I’m having a lot of hesitations and doubts…do you have any tips for getting started again?


1. First, it’s most important that you take the time to think through why you want to get back to CrossFit and what your main objectives are. I would suggest taking the time to clarify your “why” and write down your goals. The Mental Edge Program breaks it all down for you so that you can get focused on what’s important.

2. Then, I highly recommend that you set up a quick meeting with one of the coaches at your box. Shoot him or her an email and ask if they have some time to sit down with you. This will give you a chance to ask any questions, share your goals and let him or her know any hesitations you have.

3. Most importantly, remember not to compare yourself to your old-self, or to anyone else around you. You are you, today. You are fully capable of doing what you can, right now, to maintain or improve your condition. You may not feel 100%, but you must focus on doing what you can, with what physical ability and blessings that YOU DO HAVE on THAT day (which may be different from yesterday or tomorrow).You aren’t going to get all of your fitness back in one day, but you can and will feel a bit better each time you give a WOD your full effort.
