MTM Oly Meet will be held Saturday at 9AM. Doors will open at 8:45AM so that warmups can begin.
Here’s how the meet will work.
We’ll be running 2 platforms, one men’s and one women’s. We’ll start with Snatches. Each bar will start with a low weight on it and if someone wants to attempt that weight they can. Then the bars weight will be announced at 5lbs more. If anyone wants to make an attempt at that weight the weight will be added to the bar and the attempt will be made. Once a lifter has designated that they want to make an attempt at the weight they will have 1 min to make that attempt. Each lift will receive only 3 total attempts.
So, it’ll be something like this:
The men’s bar starts at 95lbs. Does anyone want their first attempt to be at 95lbs? No takers, ok the next weight is 100lbs. No one? Ok now it’s 105lbs. Ok, Dave wants to attempt 105lbs, 1 Min on the clock to complete the lift. Dave makes the lift. Anyone else? No, now the weight is 110lbs. Anyone? No, now it’s 115lbs. Tim wants to make an attempt. The bar is loaded, 1 min clock starts, Tim makes his attempt. Anyone else? Dave wants to attempt, Dave makes his attempt. And so on and so forth until everyone has lifted.
You should have a game plan. I’m going to Snatch 185, 205, 210. That’s a weight I can make for sure, then my current PR, then an attempt at a new PR. We will have a warm up area so I’ll make several lifts working up prior to lifting those attempts – but those 3 attempts will be the ones that if I make will count towards my total.
The Same thing will happen for the Clean & Jerk.
