Free Class Saturday at 11AM – No experience needed – keep making 2013 your fittest year ever!
A couple of tough days this week – These girl WODs can be real bit…um, nice ladies. Today we’re changing gears a little and hitting a single movement girl WOD.
Let’s talk about efficiency of movement for a moment. Whether we’re hitting LOTS of reps or only 30 reps we want to maximize our energy expenditures. If each rep is perfect and uses only the minimum amount of energy to do we save some energy in reserve. Think of it this way: if every rep you do a little bit more than you have to because your form is a little sloppy then when it’s all said and done you’ve probably done 31 reps and not just 30.
What does this look like during a WOD? Of course it depends on the movement but generally: knees coming in, slow turn over with a press out, losing rythm on double unders or pull ups, or even choosing the wrong movement like a push press instead of a jerk.
Bottom Line: Best expression of technique yields maximum efficiency of movement which results in the best production of power (ie. Winning, PRs, Fame, Glory, The CrossFit Games, etc.).
