The Final Week of The Open
This time of year it always feels like The Open is never ever going to end but end it must. The announcement was made last night and a smattering of current and former Games champions took to the floor to absolutely crush this TERRIBLE combination of Thrusters and Burpees.

Throughout The Open many of you have noticed that I have a tendency to accurately guess what that week will have in it and work on those at the beginning of the week. If you ask some of our longer term members you’ll find out that this is not a new trend, I’m somehow pretty lucky at figuring out what they’re going to throw at us and prepping the gym to do those things…

That said, I’m sorry you’ll be doing Thrusters and Burpees again.

For most of us The Open is the start and finish of our “Games Season”. We stress about the WODs, come in and throwdown, cheer for the athlete next to us, and surprise ourselves by getting just a few more reps than we thought we could. Or by getting our FIRST reps of something we’ve never done before.

It is that experience that we have to hold on to with all our might. Remember the reps. Remember the PRs. Remember your friends cheering for you. Take joy in those who make it to the next level and cheer for them. At the end of the day The Open is about, for most of us, support and camaraderie.
