Another peaceful, calm, recovery day in the books. Perhaps the most important thing we learned yesterday is that pretty much everyone’s first round or two in an OTM skill session sucks. It’s really even more than the first round because we all try the reps a couple times prior to starting the timed session. By 2 or 3 minutes into the work everyone is popping their hips and jumping down like Dan and Rich (in one of the cooler videos that HQ has put out recently). What’s the lesson? Before starting your next WOD with OLY lifting in it do 4-8 reps with a light skill weight to make sure you’ve got the movement pattern down – THEN and ONLY THEN – bump up to the RX’d weight. This way you hit the proper form during the WOD.
