Beating the late Summer Time CrossFit Blues:
The end of summer can be tough at CrossFit. It’s blistering hot and humid, wods have running ALL THE TIME(!) and schedules change as school starts back up. Summer time for most CrossFitters is active time. It’s a time to get out of the box and do things outside from formal competing in Triathlons to simply heading over to the Monument to get a workout done outside.
With everything going on your attendance at CrossFit starts to fade and soon you’re at the gym just a couple times a week. Then the end of summer hits, your activity slows down as your schedule picks up and you find yourself creeping up on the scale as you’re out of habit at the gym.
3 easy ways to reboot your CrossFit:
Sign up for a local competition: Having a deadline coming up is a great way to motivate you to get back on track. First, if you’re scared or think that people of your skill level could never do a competition just stop right there and relax. Local competitions are like local fun 5ks. They have divisions for scaled athletes, most are team based, and anyone can participate. Here’s 3 that are coming up
Oct 10 Remix Rumble – 1 guy and 1 girl
Oct 11 Triple Threat – Teams of 3, same gender
Oct 31 CrossFit High Gear – Teams of 3 guys 3 girls
Be Charitable: Maybe competition isn’t for you but you can be charitable. Sign Up for Lift Up Autism this Saturday at 11AM.
Commit to learning a new skill: Choose one thing and commit to learning it within 30 days. Maybe it’s butterfly pull-ups or double unders or whatever. Pick a thing, build a progression and plan to get there, and execute. Just make sure you choose 1 thing instead of 30 things!
