Have you ever noticed that the more things change the more they stay the same? 70 years ago we didn’t have computers, exercise science, or highways. What did the military’s fitness program look like? A lot like CrossFit. There was obvious value in Pulling and Pushing and Sprinting and Lifting. Then, with technology as it often does, things changed. “Don’t do that much work! We’ve got a short cut because of this amazing technology! Just another few years till we all get a flying car and are taking weekend vacations on the Moon!”

But the truth is that reality is reality. If you want to be fit – really fit and capable – you have to master the basics and do them a lot. Lifting, Throwing, Pulling, Pushing, Sprinting and everything else that we do in CrossFit. At times it’s not sexy, it’s just work. If you put in the work you’ll get the result. Don’t be distracted by the blinking lights and promise of a “Better way that’s also Easier!” Instead realize that what’s old is new again and do the work.
